Magellan GPS Units (http://www.magellangps.com/) – good, affordably priced units for personal and recreational use. Most units give measurements with accuracy of approximately 3-5 meters depending on signal obstructions (mountains, trees, etc.)

GPS Software – Data Management and Integration

Easy GPS (http://www.easygps.com/) – a free program that allows for basic management of GPS measurements, especially created for Garmin, Magellan, or Lowrance GPS units.

ESRI (http://www.esri.com/) – maker of ArcMap, the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) industry leader. Allows for complete data integration of GPS measurement with every type of spatial date (i.e. political boundaries, geographic features, aerial photographs, etc.).

Geocaching (http://www.geocaching.com/) – “The Official Global GPS Cache Hunt Site” allows visitors and members to participate in a worldwide game of GPS hide and seek. You can leave items anywhere on the globe and leave the coordinates on the sight for other to find or search areas all over the planet for other caches.
