Guangzhou, capital city of Guangdong Province - home to the majority of 19th century Chinese Overseas. It is my sincere hope to conduct research here beginning sometime in 2007-2008.

I finally began snooping around China specifically for my PhD research. I hope to spend time in China beginning in 2007 or 2008, here's some photos from this trip. I also attended and presented at the 2006 Society for East Asian Anthropology meetings.

Macau (July 2006)
While traveling to Hong Kong and Guangzhou, I spent one afternoon in Macau with the Society for East Asian Anthropology (SEAA) conference tour, very cool mix of Portuguese, Indian, and Cantonese!
Peru (April & May, 2006)
I went to Peru to begin preliminary research on the Chinese Overseas, who numbered approximately 100,000 in the late-19th century. Of course, I spent a couple of days taking in some standard Peruvian attractions.
Manchester, Glasgow, & Edinburgh (March 2006)
I got to spend two weeks visiting friends all across the north of Britain and Scotland, it was great!

Earning an MA in Anthropology, becoming a PhD Candidate, getting married, etc. etc.

a week in York for the SHA conference.
